Questions
What new owners ask first
How long will it take?
A few rooms are two to five days. A whole house is usually one to three weeks. The estimate gives day ranges you can plan around, not a promised date.
What's on a written estimate?
Every room and surface, the colors and sheens by name, the prep, the coats, the cleanup, the days on site and the payment schedule.
What isn't in the estimate?
Repairs we can't see until the work starts, and any color or room added later. We tell you before doing any of it.
Do I need to move furniture?
We move what's light and wrap the rest. Please clear shelves, walls and anything fragile. The estimate says what we'll handle.
What if my house was built before 1978?
Federal rules apply to paid work that disturbs paint in homes and child-occupied buildings built before 1978. Tell us the year when you book. The firm's EPA firm number is listed under Credentials on the About page.
How many coats?
Usually two. A dark color over a light one can take more, and the estimate states the number for each surface.
Who buys the paint?
We do, in the colors and sheens written on the estimate. Ask for the product data sheet for any of them.
What about drying time?
Walls are dry to the touch within hours. We tell you how long to wait before furniture goes against them.
What's included in prep?
Covering, patching, caulking, sanding and priming where needed. Larger repairs are listed on their own line.
How do you protect floors and furniture?
Drop cloths and paper on floors, plastic on what stays, tape at every edge. We lift all of it at the end.
How do deposits and payment work?
The estimate has a payment schedule. We say what's due before work starts, and when the rest is due.
Can you match an existing color or help me choose one?
Yes. That's the color consult: an hour with the color consultant or an estimator, with sample boards. You can book it without hiring us to paint.
Do you need HOA approval or a permit?
Interior painting rarely does. If your HOA has rules about common areas, ask them first, and we'll provide the color names and finishes in writing.
Is the paint low-odor? What about kids and pets?
Ask us for the product data sheet for the paint we choose; it states what's in it and how to ventilate. We plan around kids and pets room by room.
Still wondering?
Text us a photo of the room and we'll answer by text.
